April & Magical Readathon TBR

I’m doing a readathon!! This is super exciting because it will be the first official readathon I participate in! I am doing the Magical Readathon hosted by Book Roast!

If you dont know about the magical readathon it is basically a Harry Potter inspired readathon during the month of April. Its seems like a lot of fun and is very interactive. Book Roast spent a lot of time coming up with magical careers that one would find in the wizarding world that readathon participants get to select and work to achieve. The reading prompts are given in the form of an O.W.L.’s exam, just like they take in the 5th year of classes at hogwarts. You can either complete all of the 12 reading prompts, or you can pick a career and complete the prompts for your specific career (which is what i’ll be doing.) For more information check out the video by Book Roast, or follow the Magical Readathon page on twitter @MagicalReadthn. Here is the info video:

The career I chose is.. Magizoologist!! I love animals and creatures big and small, so this was my obvious choice! The O.W.L.’s needed to complete this career are Care of Magical Creatures, Charms, Herbology, and Potions.
The prompts that cordinate with each exam and my choices are as follows:
Care of Magical Creatures- Land animal on the cover: White Stag by Kara Barbieri
Charms- Read an adult work: The Priory of the Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
Herbology- Plant on the cover: Damsel by Elana K. Arnold
Potions- Sequel: Legendary by Stephanie Garber
Im super excited as well as nervous (the brick that is Priory) about my choices, but I am confident that I will be able to get to them all and I am going to prioritize these for the month of April.

Along with the four books I will be reading for this readathon, I will also be reading the Books With Friends choice of the month Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson. Books With Friends is a book club with a monthly live show hosted by booktubers Spencer and Chloe from Common Spence and Books with Chloe. First live show below!

Lastly, because I’m weird and like to have at least six books on my tbr each month, I am also hoping to read Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young. This is just a book I’ve really been wanting to pick up, so hopefully I make it to this one, though I am going to prioritize the other five books first!
