Tag: I Should Have Read That

Hello fellow book lovers! I started a new job, so kind of had to take a mini break from blogging, but I am back! Not only am I back writing reviews, as you can see I am also doing my first book tag. I have really been wanting to try one, but the few I have been tagged in so far I didn’t really find interesting. But when caitisbooked tagged me in the “I should have read that” tag I thought it seemed like a lot of fun, so thanks Cait!

The Rules:
1. Thank the person who tagged you, and link back to their post.
2.Link to the creator’s blog. Beth from Book Nest!
3. Answer the questions/prompts below.
4. Tag 10 others!
5. Have Fun!!Thank the person who tagged you, and link back to their post.

A book that a friend is always telling you to read.

A Darker Shade of Magic by V.E. Schwab for sure! I have actually had multiple recommendations from multiple people on this one. I just haven’t picked it up, but I know I really want to very soon!

A book thats been on your TBR forever, and you still haven’t picked it up yet.

Wow…I checked my good reads to see my oldest date added book on the TBR and it dated back to December 25th, 2016. I am truly terrible and that book is Falling Kingdoms by Morgan Rhodes. The worst part is I bought the book earlier this year with the intent of FINALLY reading it, and months later…I still have not. Major fail.

A book in a series you’ve started, but haven’t gotten around to finishing yet.

So I’m usually really good at finishing series. I usually read a whole series within a month or two, because I don’t like leaving things unfinished and just want more. But I do have one series I started, really enjoyed, but did not continue. That is the Seven Realms Series book two: The Exiled Queen by Cinda Williams Chima. I loved book one, but just haven’t been in the mood to finish the series and I really couldn’t say why.

A classic you’ve always liked the sound of, but never actually read.

This might get me some hate, but I have never read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. When I was younger I really didn’t like the animated Disney movie, so I never thought I would enjoy the book. BUT I have also heard so many amazing things, and have even read a few modern retellings. So I do have an interest in reading this classic and may try to get to it… soonish?

A popular book that it seems everyone but you has read.

There are actually a few of these, (and a lot of them have already been listed) but in the spirit of having a different book for each prompt I am going to go with Nevernight by Jay Kristoff. I have wanted to read this for a very long time, but I was scared I would love it so much that I would want to keep reading the series back-to-back. And seeing as how the third book doesn’t come out until the end of this year, I am still patiently waiting to read this one. But I feel like I always see someone talking about this one, which is why I feel like I’m the only person who hasn’t read this yet.

A book that inspired a film/TV adaptation that you really love, but you haven’t read it yet.

I do not have a book that fits this prompt. I love book to movie/tv adaptations and have seen and read almost everything that has a corresponding book/show/movie. So I am going to change the prompt a little to: a book to movie adaptation that I haven’t seen or read (but really want to.) That book and movie would be To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han. I really want to watch the movie, but I want to read the book first. I definitely need to do that before the second movie comes out on Netflix!

A book you see all over Instagram, but haven’t picked up yet.

Well since I don’t have an Instagram, I’m going to have to change this prompt up a bit too. So: A book you see all over twitter, but haven’t picked up yet. Recently that would probably be The Devouring Gray by Christine Lynn Herman. Really excited to read this one sometime in the near future, because the hype is real with this one!

This was so much fun, and I am so glad I did it! I feel super motivated to get to some books that have been on my TBR for a long time and I am in a big reading mood after this. Thanks for joining, and happy reading! 🖤

Since I haven’t ever done one of these I’m sorry if I am tagging someone who has already done this or someone completely not interested, but it is fun so maybe give it a shot?

  1. Great answers! I’m currently in the middle of A Darker Shade of Magic and I can’t wait to know the ending! And you’re so right, everyone seems to be reading and loving Nevernight, I have thought about reading this one for such a long time, but haven’t got around to it yet! And I also have to read To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, I watched the movie, and yes, of course it’s cheesy, I’m usually not the cheesy book/movie type, but sometimes I enjoy a cheesy contemporary…

  2. The Devouring Gray really has been everywhere and I can’t wait to read it! I’ll probably wait until the weather is cold and perfect, though, because it seems like a very atmospheric read. In my country, is currently Autumn, though still hot af. Hopefully, by July, it will be cold enough that I’ll be able to cuddle with a blanket and just read this one!
I really hope you get to To All The Boys soon! I keep hyping up this book & movie, but I just love it a lot. A couple days ago, actually, I re-watched the movie and I was re-reading some of my favorite scenes in the last book and then I ran into another girl in my class who was reading the same book! We totally had a fangirling moment together and it was a lot of fun, hahah. If you like romance, I’m sure you’ll like this one too!

    • The Devouring Gray does seem like a chilly time read! I will have to wait until October to enjoy that one.
I actually just finished To All The Boys last week! It was amazing! I watched the movie the day after, but didn’t love that as much as the book. I really can’t wait to read the next two books in that series!
Also, I love meeting someone who loves the same books as me and having those fangirl moments!

      • Yayyyy! I’m so glad you enjoyed To All the Boys! I hope you like the rest of the trilogy just as much. And don’t fear: if you feel let down by P.S I Still Love You (I didn’t, but I understand how some people may), carry on because the last installment is likely to surprise you!
