April Wrap-up 2019

April was not a great reading month for me. I started my new job with Century 21, and I was extremely busy most of the month, so I was only able to read six books (plus one dnf.) Six is decent, but it is my worst reading month so far. (Higher hopes for May..) Besides being busy, my biggest struggle was I wasn’t super excited about what I was reading. Reading felt more like a chore than a fun activity I enjoy. I did have some high rated reads, but I just didn’t have a lot of fun reading in April. I hope my new plans for May make it a much better reading month than April.

In regards to my blogging goals I got a lot more posts up than the previous month, and reached 400 Followers!! My goal was 350, so I was very happy to exceed that goal!

The first book I attempted to read was Damsel by Elana K. Arnold and I had to DNF because it was awful. There is a lot of sexual assault and downing of women and it is never challenged and kind of just accepted. The writing was not good and overall plot wasn’t working. I couldn’t continue after about 50%

Now for the books I actually completed:

Sky In The Deep by Adrienne Young
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Priory of The Orange Tree by Samantha Shannon
4.5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Truly Devious by Maureen Johnson
4.5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

White Stag by Kara Barbieri
2.5 Stars ⭐️⭐️

Legendary by Stephanie Garber
4.5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I still need to get a few reviews up, but overall I did enjoy most of the books I got to. Wish me luck in May! Thank you and Happy reading! 🖤

  1. Gabby, I’m sorry that April wasn’t a good reading month. I still find reading six books pretty impressive nonetheless; especially considering one of those books was 700+ pages long!
As for the books you finished, I’m glad you also enjoyed Truly Devious! I’m dying to pick up the next book, but I’ve had so many other reading plans and it didn’t quite work. At the same time I want to read The Vanishing Stair already, I know the wait for the next book will be long, so I may want to post-pone this one a little longer, just so I don’t forget everything that happened by the time the 3rd one comes around.
I hope May is much more productive for you and overall a better month too!

    • Thank you! It wasn’t so much that six books wasn’t a lot, I just wasn’t excited about anything I was reading. I feel the same about the Vanishing Stair, I don’t like leaving series unfinished for long periods of time! And thank you, so far so good on May! I hope you have a great reading month as well!
