Happy New Year! I did a lot of reading last year (104 books!) and since I am a super competitive person I decided to try and beat that by making my reading goal for this year 115 books.
Aside from my overall reading goal, I have a lot I want to focus on this year. I would really like to finish some of the series I’ve started. In the past I would read a series start to finish, and would even wait to begin a series once the final book was released. But this past year I have been so involved in the book community that a lot of my focus has gone to newer releases, so I have kind of broken away from the waiting thing. A huge goal for this year is tackling my TBR! I noticed that my goodreads “want to read” list never seemed to be going down, and in fact seemed to get bigger even though I was reading tons of books!? 165 books minus the 104 I read should not equal 170 books on my want to read list! But, I realized that by not finishing series I was just replacing book one of the series with book two. So I want to try and finish/continue series that I have previously started as a way to lower my big ole’ tbr.
Another way I was planning to lower that want to read number was by reading stand alone novels! My tbr is PACKED with stand alone’s (adult romance) and if I can try and focus on some of those maybe that will help.
The very last thing I want to focus on in order to diminish the ever growing tbr is to read my backlist of books. I have too many books that I have wanted to read in the past couple years that I haven’t gotten to, and I want to try and get to as many of those as I can.
While doing all of this I also will be reading new releases (because I’ve got to try and stay relevant) and picking up a lot more ARCs. Do I have a lot of reading goals for 2020? Yes I do. CanI achieve them all? Hopefully!? HAHA.
Keeping all that in mind, here is a list of the top 20 books I want to read in 2020. I have a little bit from each of my goal categories on here, so I hope you enjoy and can hopefully add something new to your tbr!

Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

A Heart So Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

An Ember in The Ashes by Sabaa Tahir

Children of Blood and Bone by Tomi Adeyemi

What are some of your most anticipated reads for 2020? Also, please recommend me new releases you’re excited about! Yes I want some new recommendations even though I am trying to shorten my tbr, and yes I know I’m weird like that. Thanks for checking out this post and Happy Reading 🖤
I want to read all of these two! I have read Daughter Of Smoke And Bone but even that tbh as it definitely deserves a reread. It’s also lovely to see The Court Of Miracles getting mentioned, I don’t think I’ve seen anybody else include it yet but it sounds amazing 😍 other 2020 releases I love the sound of are Addie La Rue, Kingdom Of Back, Where Dreams Descend and about 100 others 😂

Many of those books are on my to-read list as well! Already read “An Ember in the Ashes” and the sequels that are available, I enjoyed them and hope you will too. So many books, so little time!

So many of these are on my own TBR from last year that I just haven’t gotten to them!
I loved “Renegades” and am in need to read the sequel to that.
