24-Hour Readathon tbr

Hello book lovers!! This is a very late post for me, but I’ve decided to do an impromptu 24-hour readathon! I have been extremely behind on my reading this month, and if I still want to finish all the books on my tbr I’m going to need to put in some serious reading time. Since it is going to be rainy and I’m stuck inside anyways, I thought what better time to do a 24-hour readtathon and try to knock out some books!

Now this is going to be a very, VERY, ambitious tbr for these next 24-hours! I plan to finish three books and at least start a fourth! I like to set hard goals for myself so I feel more rewarded once I achieve them! Hopefully I can actually achieve this goal and be satisfied with myself!

Here are the four books I hope to read during the 24-hour period!

The Marriage Game by Sara Desai

A high stakes wager pits an aspiring entrepreneur against a ruthless CEO in this sexy romantic comedy.

After her life falls apart, recruitment consultant Layla Patel returns home to her family in San Francisco. But in the eyes of her father, who runs a Michelin starred restaurant, she can do no wrong. He would do anything to see her smile again. With the best intentions in mind, he offers her the office upstairs to start her new business and creates a profile on an online dating site to find her a man. She doesn’t know he’s arranged a series of blind dates until the first one comes knocking on her door…

As CEO of a corporate downsizing company Sam Mehta is more used to conflict than calm. In search of a quiet new office, he finds the perfect space above a cozy Indian restaurant that smells like home. But when communication goes awry, he’s forced to share his space with the owner’s beautiful yet infuriating daughter Layla, her crazy family, and a parade of hopeful suitors, all of whom threaten to disrupt his carefully ordered life.

As they face off in close quarters, the sarcasm and sparks fly. But when the battle for the office becomes a battle of the heart, Sam and Layla have to decide if this is love or just a game.

The Last Namsara by Kristen Ciccarelli

In the beginning, there was the Namsara: the child of sky and spirit, who carried love and laughter wherever he went. But where there is light, there must be darkness—and so there was also the Iskari. The child of blood and moonlight. The destroyer. The death-bringer.

These are the legends that Asha, daughter of the king of Firgaard, has grown up learning in hushed whispers, drawn to the forbidden figures of the past. But it isn’t until she becomes the fiercest, most feared dragon slayer in the land that she takes on the role of the next Iskari—a lonely destiny that leaves her feeling more like a weapon than a girl.

Asha conquers each dragon and brings its head to the king, but no kill can free her from the shackles that await at home: her betrothal to the cruel commandant, a man who holds the truth about her nature in his palm. When she’s offered the chance to gain her freedom in exchange for the life of the most powerful dragon in Firgaard, she finds that there may be more truth to the ancient stories than she ever could have expected. With the help of a secret friend—a slave boy from her betrothed’s household—Asha must shed the layers of her Iskari bondage and open her heart to love, light, and a truth that has been kept from her.

Harry Potter and The Sorcerer’s Stone by J.K. Rowling

Harry Potter’s life is miserable. His parents are dead and he’s stuck with his heartless relatives, who force him to live in a tiny closet under the stairs. But his fortune changes when he receives a letter that tells him the truth about himself: he’s a wizard. A mysterious visitor rescues him from his relatives and takes him to his new home, Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

After a lifetime of bottling up his magical powers, Harry finally feels like a normal kid. But even within the Wizarding community, he is special. He is the boy who lived: the only person to have ever survived a killing curse inflicted by the evil Lord Voldemort, who launched a brutal takeover of the Wizarding world, only to vanish after failing to kill Harry.

Though Harry’s first year at Hogwarts is the best of his life, not everything is perfect. There is a dangerous secret object hidden within the castle walls, and Harry believes it’s his responsibility to prevent it from falling into evil hands. But doing so will bring him into contact with forces more terrifying than he ever could have imagined.

Full of sympathetic characters, wildly imaginative situations, and countless exciting details, the first installment in the series assembles an unforgettable magical world and sets the stage for many high-stakes adventures to come.

Seafire by Natalie C. Parker

After her family is killed by corrupt warlord Aric Athair and his bloodthirsty army of Bullets, Caledonia Styx is left to chart her own course on the dangerous and deadly seas. She captains her ship, the Mors Navis, with a crew of girls and women just like her, who have lost their families and homes because of Aric and his men. The crew has one mission: stay alive, and take down Aric’s armed and armored fleet.

But when Caledonia’s best friend and second-in-command barely survives an attack thanks to help from a Bullet looking to defect, Caledonia finds herself questioning whether to let him join their crew. Is this boy the key to taking down Aric Athair once and for all . . . or will he threaten everything the women of the Mors Navis have worked for?

These are the four books I hope to get to during my impromptu 24-hour readathon. I plan to do this readathon from 12AM Saturday – 12AM Sunday. I hope to do less sleeping than I usually do, but I doubt I can stay awake for the full 24-hours. I had a nap today, so that will (hopefully) help me to stay awake longer. Armed with coffee and snacks, I plan to make this readathon a success!!

Thanks for stopping by to check out this quick post! Wish me luck with these next 24 hours!
Happy Reading 🖤

  1. I figure you already started your Readathon but still, Goodluck. I would love to join but there are lots of people in our house, thanks to the quarantine, and there’s no way I can focus. Maybe next month. I, along with my friends, actually do a 24-hour readathon every month.

  2. Hope you’re having a successful 24-hour readathon so far! I re-read Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone the other day and it got me so excited to read the entire series again 🙂 My friend and I have planned a 24-hour readathon next Saturday and hopefully I’ll stay awake for the entire time ❤

    • That’s amazing! I finished two books and started a third. Not as successful as I had hoped, but I’m still glad I got some reading done! Good luck with your readathon! 😄

      • That’s brilliant, Gabby! My self-planned readathon actually overlaps with the Dewey’s readathon next weekend so I’ll be killing two birds with one stone. Thank you for the luck, I think I’ll need it 🙂
